Is La Salle an Educational Genius?

Frederick Joseph Burkert, Fordham University

Abstract

This account, though brief, of La Salle's education, is sufficient to acquaint us with the fact that not only was he educated, but that, moreover, he possessed the qualifications of a leader of educators. How our educational authors would have written page after page of encomiums for their cherished educational ideal if he had such an educational record to enhance his name. How the names of Pestalozzi and Rousseau would be enhanced by the titles of Master of Arts and Doctor of Divinity.
