A History of the Bureau of Family Service of the Oranges and Maplewood, New Jersey: 1879-1948
Abstract
The author will attempt to show how the Bureau of Family Service, Orange, New Jersey was started and what it has meant to the community since that date. She believes a history of the Bureau of Family Service should enable others to understand the role of a family agency in a suburban area. The author will attempt to show the growth and development of this particular agency. The Bureau of Family Service is located in Orange, New Jersey, a suburban community approximately fourteen miles from New York City. This agency also serves the towns of East Orange, West Orange, South Orange and Maplewood, New Jersey.
