An Enrichment of the High School English Literature Course Through a Corpus of Specialized Discussion Materials

Gerald B MacKinney, Fordham University

Abstract

Much activity is being manifested in the revision , reorganization, and readjustment of the high school subjects and methods of teaching at the present time. A greater coordination has been effected among the aims of education, the aims of the special subjects, and the methods employed for carrying out these purposes . This integration has resulted in a closer relationship between teaching and learning. Emphasizing the improvement of technique and the needs and interests of the pupils, this more coherent plan of education has given rise to a curriculum with firmer foundations and more potential outcomes. Moreover, greater efforts have been expended to enrich the high school courses-. This movement of enrichment has proceeded hand in hand with the attempt to rectify the defects that necessarily arise in the present dynamic system of education.
