The Adolescent Girl and the Moral Virtues

Mary Evangela Wagner, Fordham University

Abstract

Every cause has an effect. This is true in the physical, the mental and the moral order. The warm days of spring give new life to nature. The sculptor by his skill produces a statue. And man by his human acts develops virtues or vices. However, it is not the purpose of this paper to discuss nature, art or man but the adolescent girl. She too is the effect of a cause. The press discusses her, the public denounces her and frequently parents and teachers lose patience with her. But in the face of this criticism for the greater part destructive, the writer will state the thesis to be defended, define the terms, indicate the defects, point out their causes and finally, suggest efficient remedies.
