Abstract

Mental Retardation refers to sub-average general intellectual functioning which originates in the developmental period and is associated with impairment in adaptive behavior It is a condition that exists at birth or becomes apparent at an early age and is thought to result from as many as a hundred different causes. Its most common characteristic is slowness in learning.
