Foster Homes: A Study of Thirty-Three Foster Homes That Closed Within Two Years at Angel Guardian Home Brooklyn in 1965 and 1966

Abstract

Failure in a great object is the subject that concerns us in this study. A "closed foster home" is a failure not only for an agency but for the family involved, for the foster parents who have a feeling of failure that they were not able to measure up to the needs of the child, the needs of an agency and the continuing approval of society. There is no question in our minds that the welfare of the foster child is our primary consideration; however we also feel that the members of the foster family as human beings deserve our professional consideration.
