The Educational Directives of Pius XII

Timothy C Donohue, Fordham University

Abstract

When on March 2, 1939? Eugene Cardinal Pacell! became Pope Pius XII? he chose for his motto the words of St. Paul to the Ephesians, "Serving the truth in charity." Since that day Pius XII has dedicated his Papacy to the task of truth by seizing every opportunity to apply the Christian concept of reality to contemporary life. His encyclical letters are relatively well known and widely read, but his addresses and letters to particular groups and persons are not so widely published. There are letters and addresses to kings, queens and presidents.
