Hospitalization of the Child A Study of the Impact of Hospitalization Upon the Pediatric Patient
Background of the Study. With the dramatic advances in medical science during the past decade, physical and mental health has achieved a new premium in our society. The expanding body of medical Knowledge has yielded numerous new and varied medical techniques accompanied with an increase of medical resources in our communities. The growth of medical and hospital insurance plans financially facilitates the utilization of these new resources and techniques and the hospital has increasingly become the center for the study and the treatment of illness. Few persons today will pass through me without at least one hospital experience and with this experience the patient is faced with new problems and adjustments. Medicine itself is adjusting in its concepts about patients, the nature of disease and method of patient care.
