Abstract
In South Bronx, a history of the Bronx's rise, fall, and rebirth focusing on the twentieth century, Jill Jones argues that the South Bronx burned because of the combination of half a dozen powerfully destructive forces meeting all at once, and rose again thanks to concerted efforts by community organizations and the government to turn those forces back. Jonnes' thorough work through marred by bias and muddiness, convinces on the strength of its extensive evidence, its catalogue of cause, and in solid statistics.
