Dramatic Elements in the Middle English Lyric
Abstract
The actual relationships existing between the lyric poetry of the later Middle Ages and the cyclic dramas have been indicated by several scholars of medieval literature.1 This paper will not touch upon any aspect of the medieval drema itself but will limit itself to an examination of some of the dramatic elements to be found in the lyric poetry that has been preserved to us in various manuscripts.
