The Foundation of the Moral Act
Abstract
Man, a citizen of two worlds, is a creature who envisions two horizons in his innermost life, the horizon of matter and the horizon of spirit. He stands between this world of spirit and the material universe as the meet- ing place of both. Yet man is not a duality but rather a unity, a unity effected by the soul which is the source of all his activities and the means whereby the composite whole exists.
