Some Aspects of the Organization of the Church in the Third and Fourth Centuries

Abstract

In the history of eclesiastical organization the time of Saint Cyprian, the bishop of Carthage (248- 255) mancs a notable trand to- wards the establishment of a fully developer hierarchy. This nove tent will gain momentum until it reaches a certain peak at the end of the fourth century. It is in the third century that there appears, though in a modified form, the organisation of the Church in embryonic stage of provinces and metropolitan districts of administration.
