Operations of the Civilian Enterprise Newspaper: The Monmouth Message
Abstract
Just as democratic society cannot live without the information service rendered by a free press, so an army post cannot live in a state of high morale without its newspaper--a necessary instrument for making perfect the exercise of command. That this is so seems to be proven by the large number of official statements bearing upon army newspapers, and furnishes abundent reasons for a study of one type--the civilian enterprise newspaper. This dissertation attempte to present some of the critical problems involved in the publication of this special type of weekly newspaper, and to suggest practical solutions based on the results of experimental efforts to raise one such newspaper to a satisfactory level of operations.
