The Relationship Between Stimulus Hue and Latency and Duration of After-Images in Young Adults
Abstract
Through the centuries the after-image has become a widely ob- served and investigated visual phenomenon. Yet, Shaw can rightly say, in 1956, "A sensible account of the after-image continues to pose one of the most difficult problems in the long history of color vision." (1955, p. 237). According to Shaw, the difficulty presented by after-images is primarily that of trying to resolve apparent inconsistencies by propor- tioning them out among the inadequate theories of color vision that still enjoy a wide, if limited, acceptance.
