Abstract
One of the highly specialised techniques in child welfare work today is the determining of the relative merits of institutional and foster home care in so far as they meet the needs of each individual child. Several recent studies of the community adjustment of children placed in foster homes, have helped workers to understand better and evaluate this form of care. Because of the contribution of these studies to constructive practice in the field of child care they have challenged the making of similar studies in regard to children receiving institutional care,
