The Effect of Stress on the Differential Leucocyte Count

Benjamin S. Hayden, Fordham University

Abstract

Since the early 1930's when Selye initiated his investigation on the stress reaction and the General-Adaptation-Syndrome, stress has be- come the topic of a great volume of investigation. With greatest re- spect to all past research, the effects of stress are still today, largely a mystery. Some of these effects, if incapacitating enough, are called a disease of the civilization. The mysteries of science are seldom fathomed by one smooth rapid stride, but rather, are under- stood by a series of analytical steps. The present investigation is intended to be such a step.
