An Investigation of Ancient Greek Atomism in the Light of Modern Nuclear Conceptions
Abstract
If the title of the present work seems somewhat pretentious, the work itself is modest in its endeavor, the main point of inquiry being the interrelationship between the natural philosophy of antiquity and the empirical science that shared the same Greek origin. This interrelationship can only be understood in its development and for this reason the work must follow historical lines. However, since the work is not a general history of ancient thought, the presenta- tion of the historical development is highly selective, covering only those areas pertinent to this particular cosmological theme.
