Quevado as a Moral Critic in Los sueños
Abstract
Don Francisco Gomez de Quevedo y Villegas (1580-1645) can write as a saint, as a philosopher or as a peasant. An analysis of Quevedo's literary works may lead to diverse interpretations; however, the recurring overtones in his prolific writings distinguish his unyielding desire to moralize. All of his works contain the satiric; all of them contain a desire to reform, Variety in Quevedo is animated by this unifying element of satire.
