Abstract

John Henry ewman's position as one of the great masters of Ang- lah prose is secure and indisputable; his writings have beso an in- valuable part of the canon of English Literature. Or all the great Victorians, he lives on in the present day with a vitality and relevance which few, if any, of his contemporaries can approach. It has been es- timated that some ten thousand books and articles treating of ewsan'a life and works appeared in the year 1935 alone,
