Religion - A Preventive Crime

Thomas Francis McGann, Fordham University

Abstract

America today is faced with many problems, moral, economic and social. Among these problems, crime is exceedingly threatening and costly. In cost it has reached the fabulous sum of three times as much as the cost of maintaining the Federal Government. This estimate does not take into consideration the unusual loss entailed in human wreckage, moral injury and social usefulness to the individual as well as to the community. The challenge raised by organized criminals, and the tremendous amount of lawlessness among our youth has been heard many times. Yet, our efforts in coping with the problem appear to be static.
