The Effects of the Depression on Private Hospitals and Clinics

Kathryn Regina McArdle, Fordham University

Abstract

The hospital is a complex institution combining medical service, business responsibilities and community relationships. The reason for the existence of the hospital or clinic is to create and maintain the conditions under which the physician can render his best service to patients and community. It requires skilled administration in order to care adequately for the sick. Progress in the care of the sick can be studied not only from the medical approach but also from the methods of organization.
