A Survey of Juvenile Delinquency among Boys From Catholic Parochial Elementary Schools in Essex County, New Jersey
Abstract
The problem in this dissertation involved a study and an analysis or the case histories of 150 delinquent boys who were referred to the Juvenile Court of Essex County, New Jersey, during the seven year period elapsing from 1935 to 1941 inclusive and who, at the time of referral. were attending Catholic parochial elementary schools. Three phases of the problem are reported in this study. The first of these phases 1s concerned with the nature and type of offenses committed by these boys. The second phase is concerned with their educational training. The third is concerned with their family backgrounds and with conditions existing within their homes.
