Abstract
Minor poets have not been given sufficient scholarly treatment, probably because students are prone to evaluate such study as ranking but "one degree higher than worrying oats, #1 The minor poets of the baroque spirit, of that interesting period from the middle to the close of the seventeenth century, have been scarcely touched on at all.Shakerly Marmion, Francis Kynaston, John Chalkhill, Henry King, Thomas Flatman, Patrick Carey, and soore of others, were once unread by grad- uate students, and unknown to the general public, largely because their works were not easily gotten.
