A Study of the Effectiveness of Several Methods of Placing Guiding Questions
Abstract
The problem in this investigation was to determine whether in studying a selection of material in the field of social science, the placement of guiding questions is merely a matter of preference or does such placement of guiding questions constitute a method of implementing assimilation and thus involve a genuine help in learning. The purpose of the investigation was to determine experi- mentally the effectiveness of three different methods of placing questions to guide eighth grade pupils in the study of a selection of material in the field of social science upon the recall of that material.
