The Reading Interests and Activities of Seventh and Eighth Grade Pupils

Abstract

The problem in this dissertation in- volves an investigation of the reading interests of the pupils of the seventh and eighth grades in fifty-two schools in the Diocese of Brooklyn. The children participating in this study were selected from schools in the four counties, namely, Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk. Catholic industrial schools, private academies, parochial schools and hospitals were included in the investigation. The en- rollment in these institutions ranged from three pupils in a single grade in one private academy to one hundred eighty pupils in a single grade in a parochial school.
