A Comparative Study of the Relative Effectiveness of Two Different Procedures Used in the Teaching of Silent Reading

Abstract

The purpose of this investigation was to determine experimentally the relative effectiveness of two different procedures used in the teaching of silent reading. The pupils in one case were guided by questions as they read each paragraph. In the other the pupils read the paragraph first and then proceeded to answer the questions which followed it.
