Ovid's Treatment of Mythology in the Ars Amatoria

Abstract

It would be indeed exceedingly rash, if not impossible, to attempt a careful analysis of Ovid's treatment of mythology in his didactic amatory work, the Ars Amatoria, without first considering the importance and the status of Graeco-Roman mythology in that age in which the work was composed.
