The Revival in Catholic Literature as Seen in Contemporary French Poetry

Frances Dolores Burns, Fordham University

Abstract

That there has been a great Catholic revival in France, since the World War, in religion, in art and in literature, is very evident. It is from a literary point of view that we are interested in this question, since even before the war, men like Brunet1ère, Huysmans, Bordeaux, Bazin, Bourget and others occupied a high place in the intellectual world, their work proving that a Catholic was not necessarily narrow or mediocre.
