Abstract

Growth substance investigations started back in the time of Julius Sachs As experimental work was carried on, three different crystalline substances were isolated. They were call- ed auxin a, auxin b, and hetero-auxin.Recently there has been developed a plant hormone or growth substance, the chemical compounds of which are known. This new substance has been named Hormodin. When applied to certain parts of plants, it causes definite reactions, such as bendings, proliferation of stems, swellings, and rootings.
