An Inquiry Into the Social Consequences of the Albigensian Heresy
Abstract
The statement "He best understands a thing who studies it in its origins" epitomizes for the modern student the reasons why one glance will not endow him with a comprehension of the nature of medieval heresy. Homer and Vergil have full liberty to motivate their epics by plunging "in medias res" it is true, but for one who would understand the drama of the Inquisition a historical survey is a logical necessity.
