A Survey of the Public and Private Recreational Facilities in the St. Mary's Park Area of the Bronx, New York to Ascertain Need for a Boy's Club of New York in That Area
Abstract
In making this survey, the author has attempted what the average person with limited resources might do if he were planning to enter a community and wanted to get the lay of the land. An intensive inquiry into the phases of recreation existing in the entire Borough of the Bronx was not attempted because it would have required too great a period of time and research skill. Rather the area around St. Mary's Park was selected, since it has a large heterogeneous population and is considered the most socially dangerous area in the Bronx. Its juvenile delinquency rates among the ten highest sections of the entire city of New York.
