School Board Regulations Governing the Principal

Kathryn Ida Scanlon, Fordham University

Abstract

The present study concerns the regulations of boards of education in certain large cities which govern the principal's administration of his school. These regulations, or by-laws, constitute, usually, a detailed legal statement of the principals administrative responsibilities. In this study, these regulations will be treated in two ways: first, by a presentation of the specific regulations which indicate the principals' responsibilities over the administration of schools in various cities and second, by a recapitulation which shows how the principalship, as an office, is controlled in these matters.
