History of the Individualization of Instruction

Daniel J Shea, Fordham University

Abstract

The history of education is replete with attempts to furnish panaceas for the educatioanl ills which from time to time have presented themselves to thwart educators in their efforts to attain the ideal in instruction. Obscured as the objectives and aims of education have been in various climes and various times this one factor has ever been constant: something must be done to the individual. The individual must be equipped or furnished with some data, some knowledges, some skills, some attitudes, which will enable him to realize the objectives of education in a given time and place.
