The History of Catholic Secondary Education in the Diocese of Indianapolis
Abstract
The most important period in the life of an individual is that time which succeeds childhood; that age of adjustment, change and development that leads to maturity; the span of years commonly referred to as the period of adolescence. It has more influence upon the ultimate life and character of the individual than any other period of his growth. The seeds here son bring forth their fruit in maturity, either good or evil. Hence, as Dr. Bagley writes, ".....it is precisely at this point that some form of education or external guidance becomes essential for the salvation of the race."
