A Comparison of Asymmetric Item Response Theory Models

Xing Chen, Fordham University

Abstract

Item response theory (IRT) has been widely used to analyze data from educational assessments. In this study, I conducted a real data study and simulation study to compare the accuracy of several IRT models, the two-parameter model (2PL model), 3PL model, logistic positive exponent model (LPE model) and residual heteroscedasticity model (RH model). Results of the real data study and simulation study and an explanation of the results are discussed in the thesis.
