Extent of Continuity of Pupil Participation in Extra-Curricular Activities and the Factors Which Condition Such Continuity

Harold G Froehlich, Fordham University

Abstract

Educators are not certain how the value of the field can be proved. They all agree, however, that pupil participation is an important factor in judging the worth of any program of extra-curricular activities. As a consequence, extensive investigations of pupil participation in extra-curricular activities have been made . These investigations have usually been confined to a search for answers to the following questions : 1. Do all pupils participate in extra-curricular activities? 2. Do they enter a sufficient number and variety of organizations? 3. Do they enter too many organizations? 4. What are the effective means for controlling pupil participation?
