Selected Problems of Rural Elementary School Principals in New York State: Based on a Study of Twenty-Two Schools

Abstract

Introduction. The school is one of the major institutions in n rural village or town, because of that fact, the rural school principal holds a most important position in his community. However, the role of the rural elementary school principal has been increasingly broadened in the past decade, and with it have come problems which he must resolve, it is imperative, therefore, that the rural school principal possess qualities of leadership of a superior order to create and administer the rural school program and thereby assist in the wholesome development of the children entrusted to the school.
