Puerto Rico and the Fatima Sisters: A Survey of the Work of "Nuestra Senora Del Rosario De Fatima" Order in Seven Towns, 1949-1966

Abstract

On November 3, 1966, Nue stra Senora del Rosario de Fatima Order celebrated its seventeenth anniversary. This young Puerto Rican religious community is dedicated to social work with socio - economically deprived people. The Constitution of the Order reads that "the special purposes of the Order are to cooperate with the Church in the formation and preservation of the family unit; to cooperate with the priests in their apostolic work; to provide for the needs of deprived people according to individual, family and community needs. "Further, the Constitution states that services must be adapted to circumstances, place, and time. As a preventive measure, the Constitution also states that the work of educating is to be included, when there is a need.
