Foster Care: An Exploratory Study of Ten Long Term Foster Care Placements, Identified as Successful and Active at the New York Foundling Hospital, New York, 1966-1967

Abstract

This is an exploratory study of successful long term foster care placements. The selection of subject material was influenced by the authors’ experience as social caseworkers in the Boarding Out and Homefinding Departments of the New York Foundling Hospital. The study was advanced through discussion with workers in the field of child care, through familiarity with the literature pertaining to child care, through familiarity with the literature pertaining to child welfare and through our own personal observation.
