Abstract

This study will investigate the relationship between the treatment of 13 parents of adolescents and the treatment progress and results of their 10 children. These parents all initially came to Youth Consultation Service Mental Health Center in Jersey City, New Jersey for treatment of a child aged 12 through 19» The study sample includes all the parents who were involved in individual or group therapy at the clinic as of January 31, 1967, and had been involved at least six months. The study group includes two couples, seven mothers, one father, and one husband who had dropped out of treatment, but re-entered treatment during the time our data was being collected. While each child was initially referred as the patient, and was seen at the clinic, most of the adolescents have since terminated treatment.
