Abstract
Since this study concerns the national Catholic Educational Association, it is advisable that a short history of the Association be given# The group had its inception in an effort to establish a conference of seminary presidents and professors. To this end, the Right Rev. T. J. Conaty, Rector of the Catholic University of America, called a meeting to be held at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Hew York, in May 1898. A second meeting was held in Philadelphia, September, 1899. nothing further was done until April, 1904, when the Right Rev. D, J. O’Connell called a meeting of representatives of several seminaries. It was then decided to revive the conference and to hold a meeting at St. Louis in July, 1904.
