Abstract

The reasons given for and against a particular innovation in a community are often complex. This is the case in Newark, New Jersey with the relocation of the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry.Issues raised in questioning the location of the medical and dental school in Newark, such as relocation, tax increase, the shifting of political strength, lack of participation in the decision making process are complex and often interwoven one with the other. In this study these issues will be defined in the context of this particular community. The reaction of individuals and groups to these issues will be examined and analyzed.
