Priests and Social Workers: A Study of the Relationship Between Priests and Social Workers, Catholic Charities, Essex County, 1966.
Abstract
The man who guides this "little world” is the parish priest* St. Paul tells us the priest must be "omnis omnibus" ("all things to all men"). Included in the priest’s responsibilities may be the duty to say Mass and administer the sacraments, to supervise or teach in the parish school, to fulfill the many administrative duties involved in the parish, to visit the sick, to offer counsel to troubled parishioners or guidance to others in the pursuit of a vocation. He will probably be called upon to moderate one or more of the parish social aid spiritual groups and could also be given a job on the diocesan level.
