Abstract

The activity programming in many institutions has been designed to meet the needs of the emotionally stable child. In speaking of children in placement, Churchill says, "Each child placed away from his own home generally needs professional help with emotional problems*Group Work, therefore, readily found a place in this type of service. in speaking of the early days of Group Work in institutions Konopka stated, “The first efforts of group workers in children’s institutions were directed toward the alleviation of the impersonal mass situation.”
