Social Services Available in St. Cloud, Minnesota as Revealed by a Study of the Social Service Agencies

Abstract

Background of The Study. People helping people is as old as civilization itself. The process by which needy members in a society are assisted has undergone marked evolutionary changes over the past centuries and particularly during the past few decades. These changes have been greatly entwined in man’s history and varied cultures. Each society has been faced with problems of having to adapt themselves to necessary changes in meeting the needs of their times. Some cultures have quietly and peacefully anticipated change by evaluating and adapting in order to meet changing social conditions. Others have equated change with death, refusing to face reality and accept the responsibility for orderly change.History depicts these cultures as having come to an end because of incapacity for planned, rational and voluntary change.
