Nursing the Sick Poor: A Descriptive Study of the Services Rendered by the Sisters of the Infant Jesus to Needy Patients in Their Own Homes
Abstract
Nursing is a dynamic profession. It is a profession with an extraordinary social awareness, eager to give, to share and to communicate itself with others. It is a profession of charity, serving as Christ did the sick, the suffering and the needy. Nursing is both practical and tender in its ministering to the sufferings resulting from sickness. It is an old profession with roots buried in the creation of mankind. At first its methods were crude, dictated largely by instinct, but gradual learning and experience kept pace with advancements in other areas until today nursing is a highly scientific and skilled profession.
