Factors associated with client satisfaction with behavioral health care services

Lisa DeBilio, Fordham University

Abstract

Factors associated with client satisfaction with behavioral health care services were examined. A purposive sample of l,074 clients above the age of seventeen was included. All clients who attended any of the outpatient treatment programs of a large Community Mental Health Center over the course of a selected five-day period in June of 2000 were given a satisfaction survey. The satisfaction survey used in this study was developed by the Mental Health Corporations of America (MHCA) and is used by Behavioral Health Care facilities across the county. The factors significantly associated with overall satisfaction included two demographic variables, employment status, and ethnicity and one process measure status of problem for which the client sought treatment. However, in spite of the significant findings the substantive significant was small. Implications for social services are discussed.
