The Brownsville Boys' Club, Brooklyn, N.Y., 1940-1954: The Story of an Agency Initiated by Youth Acting Autonomously

Denis Alvin Dryden, Fordham University

Abstract

The researcher has made an investigation of the period from 1940-1954. He attempts to show the major factors in the growth of the BBC and the effect that they had upon the development of the Boys' Club. He attempts to describe the present agency goals and make it clear as to how they were evolved. There is no attempt to analyze the motives of the persons who helped build the BBC. There is only a superficial evaluation of the personal motives and the early programs, activities that became a part of the history of the agency..
