Public Assistance in Chautauqua County, New York: A Statistical Study of 1600 Active Cases, 1960
Abstract
This statistical study of 1600 active Public Assistance cases in Chautauqua County, New York, is being done to gain a clearer picture of welfare in a non-metropolitan community. There are, of course, some statistics compiled by the state but they deal mostly on a state level. Their statistics are cumulative while this study will consider the actual cases involved. This study will omit the city of Jamestown (population 41,818) when per capita assistance is considered since Jamestown has a city welfare department.
