Group Work and Recreation for the Aged in Western Orange County: A Survey of Programs Under Catholic Auspices, 1952-1961, With Emphasis on Value of and Need for Parish Day Centers Programs

George M Murray, Fordham University

Abstract

This research is a survey of existing facilities and group work recreation programs for the aged in one home for the aged and three of the larger parishes in the Western part of Orange County, New York. The reasons for considering the Western section of Orange County were because this is the part known more specifically to the writer and as a result facts and figures were more available to him for this study. The Western half of the county is representative of the entire area and a survey of it would result in and mean the same as a complete Orange County coverage of the subject matter.
